Consolidation and Restoration

Since 2005, the hammam has undergone some restoration each year; so far, we have been able to consolidate the vaults, restore the doorwary arches, and stabilize the caldarium (hot bath).

Consolidation and restoration work continues apace as archaeologists continue to excavate and analyse the structures, assuring that consolidation and restoration is consistent with the historical evolotion of the structures. Work continues to progressively discover, once studied and remains in close consultation with archaeologists to meet the original appearance of buildings.

Traditional building materials (stones, bricks, lime and soil mortars) and, when necessary, modern scaffolding systems, with the main concern being not to impede the reading and understanding of historical monuments, and to follow internationally accepted rules of ethics in historical restoration.
